Piracy is a crime

“You wouldn’t steal a car.
 You wouldn’t steal a handbag.
You wouldn’t steal a mobile phone.
You wouldn’t steal a movie.
 Piracy is stealing.
Stealing is against the law. Piracy. It’s a crime.”

I saw the words in a small video, It's very meaningful.

Piracy is a crime, it's stealing other people's property. these acting like copying, showing, and selling the unauthorized things.

But I think most of people would like to watch free movie and listen free music, at this time, it would definitely hurt the entertainment business but without free activity online, the normal people can live without music and movie if they have to pay what they need to pay.Piracy has positive and negative effects on the entertainment industries, with the growing number of piracy the industries also growing up.

As I know, the country like China where I come from, the unauthorized DVDs or CDs are still selling in the market, the government did announcement of Copyright Law, but the market is too wild to control. Everyone knows that piracy is a crime, we need to support the music and film industries by buying authorized CDs or go to the theater. A lot of middle class begin to follow the laws.

In my point of view, the good point which are government control and economy.  Without both of them, we will become a crimes.

  1. Piracy is a very big concern for the entertainment industry. So many people illegally download music for free and think that there is nothing wrong with it. I know many people think that entertainers make so much money anyways it is not a big deal if they steal a few songs, but I do not agree with this. I think that if people keep stealing songs and movies, that it will cause the entertainment industry to go bankrupt. It is also not only affecting the artists or actors, but it is also affecting the people around them that make an hourly wage. The make-up artist, the set builders, the producers. Some of these people may also make a lot of money, but they are still working to earn a living and piracy is taking away their income. It is also negatively impacting the economy as well. They are losing their source of revenue. Piracy is not just a simple crime and it is sad that people view it this way.

    1. yes!Piracy policy is a way to protecting the entertainment industry, without piracy, we may not have good music and film. But in the other way, the expense is too expensive if we enjoy entertainment! So piracy always exists. Piracy crime happens in the daily life and easy to touch! I do agree your point!if people keep stealing songs and movies, that it will cause the entertainment industry to go bankrupt. It is also not only affecting the artists or actors, but it is also affecting the people around them that make an hourly wage. that is so true!!

  2. I feel easy access to media is just part of the present times and future and should be embraced. Mass media is culturally beneficial. Most people do not have the resources to pay the set price for movies, songs, books, or even television. It only hurts society to exclude these people. I'm not arguing that artists shouldn't be paid for their work, but I feel they should be supported by different means. Advertisers could carry more of the burden than the public. More people could be reached and could experience more. People everywhere and of every social class could live richer lives.

    1. yes! I do agree with you! the artists should be supported by different means. Let more people could be reached! I believe that the richer people would like to pay and support media. They will have more good work in the future.

  3. I agree with you Keegan. I feel that the only way we are going to stop piracy is by lowering the cost of our media. The price of one song is $1.29 on itunes. I think that this price is already steep for one single song. Until the music industry and movie industry lower their prices piracy is going to continue at a rapid rate.

    1. yes! If I can pay lower price for a song, I would like to do that and not do illeagal download! that is a good point! Everyone has choices for their entertainment life! The reason why people is stealing music and film is that entertainment cost is expensive, if they are not rich, they don't have choices.

  4. I think piracy will always exits, there is always going to be a demand for lower prices of media, or for free movie, music and so on. In my Country Venezuela, piracy is super common, people buy CDs, movies, everything you can imagine, even the policy will buy them, because or either the prices are to high or you can not find them. In the US and many countries is ilegal but there is little that the government can due about piracy. Piracy is a big industry in the black market and others countries, which is making a lot of revenue to people that dedicated their lives to do so. I know that is unfair that many artist and employees that are involved in the movie making business and the music business loss money because of piracy but theres is little that people and the government can do about piracy.

    1. yes, the government plays an important role in this situation! In China, Piracy is super common too, the government has policy, but people still buy CDs,movies, just like your country. So I would like to say, piracy is internationally, and in U.S, It's serious because of the government did actions!
